Level 1: Outpost Selene

A mining and research outpost on the lunar surface: dome habs, landing pads, a mass-driver rail and regolith plains. Its deep drill opened a sealed seam, and a seed-ship came down on the pads. Eleven days ago Selene stopped answering. The garrison did not die in the usual sense. It was Turned, then eaten into the Outpost's own structure. The Outpost is now partly alive, the mortar pits are grown over, and the mining laser has been bent to a new purpose. A Sentinel drop is sent to take it back.

The Lunar Goliath

A hive node: the Outpost's excavator bay, mortar battery and mining laser, grown together with the garrison into one bipedal siege organism. Its mortar strikes are spore sacs lobbed from the grown-over pits, and the ground blooms red before impact. Its laser corridors are the mining laser refracted through crystallised regolith on its back. Its aggro wipe is a brood-wide sync pulse that makes every Nihil forget who it was hunting. It never speaks. The pulse is as close as it gets.
