Release notes
Every release of aBetterGun, newest first. Times are UTC.
Version 0.0.31
- A Log Out button in the main menu, with a confirmation so a stray tap is safe.
- Settings has clearer icons for Account and Language, and Log Out sits at the top of Account.
Version 0.0.30 Squads stay together
- After a win, the results screen offers the next level or a harder difficulty first; after a defeat, Retry or an easier difficulty.
- A squad can stay together after a level: the host picks the next run, everyone readies up, and it starts without leaving the room.
- Every weapon stops firing when the boss falls, the Laser Beam included.
- Level-up cards show their real rarity. Split Barrel, the card that adds a round, is now Legendary and rarer, and Damage cards give +18 %.
- The Titan's explosions are softer.
- If a phone's graphics drop out, the game restores them instead of leaving a white screen, and sends a short error report so we can fix the cause. New art behind the login screen.
Version 0.0.29
- Level-up cards show their whole text, with the evolution's name as the title and a count of the cards still queued.
- The Character screen on desktop shows the whole Sentinel, and the picker list fills the height.
- The wiki has the Stamped Plate look, and the game footer links to it.
Version 0.0.28 Stamped Plate
- A new look for the whole game: the HUD and every menu screen in the Stamped Plate style.
- Notices appear in a feed under the timer on the left, away from the center of the screen.
- Menus tell you when a newer version of the game is live.
Version 0.0.27
- Leaderboards and Contracts fit a phone screen with content first.
- The Character screen has a new layout: your Sentinel, its seven slots, and a picker that compares your pieces.
- Squad pointers show where living teammates are when they are off screen.
- Your score shows in the HUD, objective results stay up after they finish, and hold objectives tell you to stand in the zone.
- Clearer names and text across the menus.
Version 0.0.26 Co-op feedback
- The lobby keeps your picked hero and gear.
- A downed teammate gets an arrow on every screen, and you can revive yourself once per level for 50 coins.
- Everyone in the squad sees objective pointers while the objective stands.
- Floaters fire a ring every 3.5 seconds plus one aimed pink shot a second.
- XP orbs are green with a blue glow, and they pull in with an absorb effect and sound.
- Bosses hit harder, but no single hit takes more than 240 health.
Version 0.0.25
- On small phone screens the menu and the Vault fit without scrolling.
Version 0.0.24
- Nobody takes damage before their own game has finished loading.
- The game picks the closest server by ping, and the loading screen waits until the run is ready.
- The installed app now checks for new builds.
Version 0.0.23 New menus and drop-in co-op
- New menus: the main menu, Ranks, Friends, the Vault and item comparison.
- Drop-in co-op: join a friend's run in progress from the friends list.
- In the lobby, the host sets the level and difficulty and can close the door to the room. A list of online players and a username search help you find a squad.
- Data Cards have a new face with art for each card, rarity frames and level pips.
- The Terran coin replaces the TC label in prices and payouts.
- Armor is rebuilt to fit each class's body, and all five levels have new ground items.
- Fixed: mastery and the co-op bonus no longer drop out at your first level-up.
Version 0.0.22
- Ligeia Reach has a cleaner deck.
Version 0.0.21 Dodge the boss's rounds
- Boss rounds fly on lines you can read, and a dash through one dodges it.
- The Rime's frost beam now turns and tracks, so you can step out of it. The Cast shows its aim line.
- The field stays on screen when the boss arrives, and the enemies already there hold their ground through the intro.
- Objective arrows point only at targets that still stand, and they are bolder.
- Settings has an Install the game row. The wiki is public at wiki.abettergun.com.
Version 0.0.20
- The Tidewalker and the Unfinished are rebuilt around telegraphed attacks, with an undertow and a line surge that move you across the deck.
- Fixed: invisible walls at Ligeia Reach.
- The Vanguard's Bulwark shows as a clear bubble.
- Getting hit now looks like it: an impact burst and a red flash on the hero.
Version 0.0.19

- Levels 4 and 5 now have their own music.

- The Character screen lists equipment by class.
- Larger buttons for easier taps.
- Every shipped level has its own leaderboard.
Version 0.0.16

- Fixed: the Saw Disc is drawn at the size it hits, and the Laser Beam reaches the edge of a boss.
- Fixed: a pool weapon aims at its own range, and the run time no longer counts paused time.
- Fixed: the fullscreen button in the installed Android app.
Version 0.0.15 The Cradle
- New level 5: The Cradle, with its own boss, enemies and waves.
Version 0.0.14 Strains, Ascension and two weapons
- Strains: elite variants of the regular enemies, bigger and tougher, that are worth more experience.
- Two new weapons, the Rail Driver and the Saw Disc, each with evolutions.
- Ascension: clear the last level and the campaign resets at a higher rank with a stronger multiplier, a badge and its own leaderboard.
- Dual Attunement lets a class carry a second element.
- Fixed: objective pins at the screen edge keep clear of the objective tracker.
Version 0.0.13

- Element badges on the cards, and both of your elements on the HUD and on your shots.
Version 0.0.12
- The camera pulls back to show the whole boss while it is in reach.
- Dual Element keeps your class element and adds the second at half strength.

- The Reaper's fire trail is one flowing ribbon per dash.
- Getting hit has a sound and a stronger red ring, and damage numbers are easier to read.
- The levels no longer end in a black void: the ground runs to the horizon, with stars on the Moon and sea at Ligeia.
- Fixed: your own fire trail and ground effects no longer hurt you or your squad, and bosses and enemies spawn only on the map. Remote players stay smooth on slow networks.
Version 0.0.10
- The maps are larger, with ground that blends between terrain types and melee enemies that show their tier.
- Enemy spawns keep to a band around the player, and stacking effects have caps.
Version 0.0.9 Ligeia Reach

- A second contracts board and a kill-streak counter on the HUD. A loading screen preloads the level.
- Fixed: the first-run tutorial begins when the run appears.
Version 0.0.8
- An arrow points to the current objective, and a fullscreen button is on the menu.
- Player levels come at a more even pace through a run, and the bosses were retuned to keep their fights tough.
- Fixed: the Laser Beam is drawn at the width it hits, so Wide Aperture now shows.

- A level-up now pauses the run while you choose: up to 60 seconds solo, 10 seconds in co-op, then a card is picked for you.
- The Reaper's Phase Shift leaves real burning ground, and the Lash fires a harpoon you can see coming.
- Cover and explosive props fill the middle of the Moon, Mars and Europa arenas, and the ground has finer texture.
- Chips on the HUD show your own burn, chill, freeze, shock and acid effects.
- A Skins and FX button on the Character screen shows where owned looks are applied.
